Saugus became the first girls team in history to win for consecutive team titles, scoring 56 points and running a team time of 90:26, which is second only to the Centurions all-time course record of 90:06 set last year. Saugus now owns the top three times in history. Mira Costa was second with 91 points and had a team time of 91:41 which ranks eighth on the all time Woodard Park 5,000 meter course. Redondo was third with 121 points and a team time of 92:49. Individually, senior Jacque Taylor of Casa Grande (Petaluma), who is headed to North Carolina, ran the race of her life to win in 17:29. Taylor, who had finished second in the North Coast Section finals the last week to Julie Nacouzi of Montgomery (Santa Rosa, also ran 17:29 and just missed catching Taylor. Defending champion Kaylin Mahoney of Saugus, ran with the top two for much of the race but fell back slightly at the end, finishing in 17:35 and collapsing just pass the finish. Freshman Karlie Garcia of Oakmont (Roseville) was fourth 17:52, just holding off Karis Frankian of Saugus, who finished in 17:53. Adams, who finished second in Division I in 2008, was seventh in 17:59.
