Divisions 1 and 5 ran 2.14 miles due to heat (Double Valley Loop plus Reservoir Hill)
Divisions 2, 3 and 4 ran 2.94 mile course that was modified in 1999
In our-heat divisions, the top four teams per heat advanced.
In three-heat divisions, the top 5 teams per heat and the fastest 6th placer advanced.
In two-heat divisions, the top eight teams in each heat advanced
