Edison HS senior Matt McElroy (above) pushed the pace on the final downhill and then lost his balance, his lead and the
race as Loyola junior Elias Gedyon slid right on by for the Individual Sweeps win in 14:35. Arcadia High's Ammar
Moussa, after a season of runner-up efforts at major meets, busts into the winner's circle in top time of  the day
(14:34) while Rancho Bernardo's Molly Grabill (16:41) and Torrey Pines' Megan Morgan (16:59) bust under 17!

Doing Battle On the Mt. SAC course!
Of the 100 state-ranked teams in California, 58 are here to compete in Sweepstakes Races!
Nine of state's ten #1-ranked teams will compete this weekend in Sweepstakes Races!

Our 10 Burning Questions To Be Answered During The Heat-Baked Hours of Mt. SAC Weekend...
1. For Friday, can the Woodcrest Christian steamrolling continue as the top-ranked D5 boys team faces its top 7 Southland challengers?
2. With Division 4 boys powers Laguna Beach and McFarland finally meeting for the first time, who wins the pre-state meet showdown?
3. Has Barstow's boys dynasty, dazzling each year starting with this meet, vanished with the retirement of legendary Coach Jim Duarte?
4. The top five girls teams in State Division 4 and eight of the top ten boys teams in State Division 5 will clash; can anyone break 'em up?
5. Then continuing into Saturday... Can Saugus' girls set a course record; will those chances be bolstered by Amber Murakami's return?
6. Who will succeed Jordan Hasay -- fastest girl each of the last four years at this meet -- as new queen of those Mt. SAC hills?
7. Will Great Oak's stunning girls depth be enough to overcome the slight favorites, or will the lead Saugus/Torrey Pines trios prevail?
8. Will Division 2 top-ranked Mountain View's boys be at full strength for the first time all year when battling the mega-powers?
9. Will SoCal again reign in boys sweeps or can Davis, Oak Ridge and San Ramon Valley hold up well in the fire and shine big time?
10. Can freshmen and sophomore class course recordholder Elias Gedyon of Loyola (injured last week) still get the junior class record?
