Carmichael, CA - Traditional Sac Joaquin powerhouse Jesuit HS of Carmichael, started its 2008 campaign off with a strong intrasquad run at Hoffman Park on a pleasant early Saturday morning. The State's lucky #13 ranked squad, smarting off a non-qualification for the 2007 State Meet, has had motivation over the last three-quarters of a year in preparing for the 2008 Fall, with all the expected main actors out on the course here. The program has also dropped to Division II from I as area divisional listings came out recently. Senior Emilio Garcia was out in front of a group this day that raced the overall #3 time in program history in this annual trial. Garcia's 13:52 individual winner is =#4 on the illustrious all time team individual list, with Adam Kelly-Strong's runner-up 13:59 equal #9 on that compilation. Soph Justin Brown-Pinizzotto showed up as runner number six this morning, continuing his fine improvement, with 17:11 Woodward Park runner Willie Diaz showing eighth in this race, indicative of pretty darn good team depth. Where the group heads from here during the 2008 Fall season will be another one of those interesting "tales of the campaign," with the strong tradition-laced history of the program appearing capable of scripting another very successful chapter between now and December.
