PRESS RELEASE
July 9, 2007

The Santa Clarita Runners are pleased to announce a running clinic with the nationally-known coach, Pat Connelly, currently the track and coach at Valencia High School. In addition, he travels around the country to speak and do clinics on running.

Pat has an amazing history. In addition to being an excellent runner, he was a career officer in the Los Angeles Police Department. He was instrumental in developing and working D.A.R.E. and other programs to steer at risk youth away from crime. He was the assistant coach for track and cross country at both USC and UCLA. Over 20 years, he coached San Fernando Valley area high school cross country teams to 16 City titles. He also was the long-time head coach of the Los Angeles Road Runners, and he prepared over 27,000 running rookies to complete the Los Angeles Marathon.

Pat will conduct a clinic at the track at the College of the Canyons track on July 17th, 24th, and 31st. The clinic sessions start at 6:15 p.m. and last one hour. Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome, but space is limited. We suggest you email Pat Connelly (coachpat@secondwindrunning.com) to express your interest and intent to participate.
