\nI admit, I was a bit surprised we didn't see ANY sub 15's. I thought we'd see a handful. But a great meet none the less!

\n
\nIt's because of the formatting, and the ATV\/Rhino kicking up dust for the lead pack to breathe so that video could be shot by a for-profit website that doesn't share proceeds with any of the teams being filmed
\n
\nThe D1 race had ideal weather (55 degrees at 9:40) and 4 boys with the fitness to break 15:00, but the first mile was "tactical" and went out in 4:50 with the top kids not wanting to push the pace. They were actually racing, not time-trialing, which was nice to see.
\n
\nThe D2 race had ideal weather (57 degrees at 10:10)and 1 boy with the fitness to break 15:00, but he was racing to win as well and did what he had to for the state title.
\n
\nThe D3 race had warmer than ideal weather (65 degrees at 12:20 - an 8 second penalty for the top boys, equivalent to running 3200 feet higher in elevation than the D1 and D2 races) and 4 boys with the fitness to break 15:00. These guys knew they had to get out fast if they wanted any shot at advancing to NXN. Weather adjusted times (http:\/\/www.runsmartproject.com\/calculator\/) show the top boys should be expected to have been "penalized" about 8-9 seconds versus the temps of the D1 and D2 races.
\n
\nThe D4 race had slightly warmer than ideal weather (62 degrees at 11:15 - a 4 second penalty for the top boys) and 1 boy with the fitness to break 15:00, but he was racing "alone".
\n
\nThe D5 race had warmer than ideal weather (67 degrees at 1:25 - an 11 second penalty for the top boy) and 1 boy with the fitness to break 15:00, but he was racing "alone" as well.
\n
\n11 boys with the fitness to break 15:00, but separated into 5 different races. 3 of those boys ran "alone", and 6 of them ran in less ideal conditions than the other 5.
\n
\nIt's a little bit disappointing to me that the state meet doesn't take the same format as we see in track, where the best teams and individuals compete against one another regardless of division.","date_added":"Dec 1st 2013, 5:48pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":196522,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"cerutty fan","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=50627","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/profile.php?member_id=50627","pb_wally_id":"1212787"},"926149":{"pb_id":4588,"pb_type":"members","likes":0,"parent_id":0,"pid":926149,"comment_id":926149,"member_id":4588,"comment":"[quote name='Em8A' timestamp='1385881300' post='926091']
\nScott, like I said hats down if any SS kid hits under 15 but to your enthusiasm they are coming, next year. Great job to all the kids it was a fun day......

\nI am big cross country fan and ran both courses Mt. Sac and killer hill (Woodward Park). When you mentioned Woodward slower by 16-18 seconds and the course is 284 meters longer than Mt. Sac and no one ran under under 15 minutes last year. Who do think will hit that? Very tough course............
\n[\/quote]
\n
\nIt is a tough course, but Mt. Sac is hillier so you can't do a straight distance conversion. I think anyone who's run about 14:40 or so at Mt. Sac has a decent shot at going under. I know we haven't seen it in a couple years, but look at the 2010 State Meet:
\n
\nMoussa, Ammar (2011)\tArcadia 14:43 \t
\nUrie, Ryan (2011)\tHenry 14:45
\nWerley, Lane (2011)\tM.L.King 14:46
\nGedyon, Elias (2011)\tLoyola 14:52
\nAlbertson, C.J. (2012)\tBuchanan 14:51
\nDurham, Kevin (2012)\tEl Toro 14:55
\n
\nSix guys went under in 2010 - and I think we have a stronger group of boys up front this year. If conditions are right, we could see this many go under 15:00 or more.","date_added":"Nov 26th 2013, 5:28am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":{"wally_id":"388","email_settings":"8191","email":"scott.joerger@gmail.com","address":"ScottJoerger","gender":"m","member_id":"4588","member_name":"SJ Old Account","avatar_location":"av-4588.jpg","avatar_type":"upload","avatar":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg"},"can_delete":false,"item_id":196522,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg","pb_title":"SJ Old Account","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=4588","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/ScottJoerger.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"388"},"922828":{"pb_id":53070,"pb_type":"members","likes":0,"parent_id":0,"pid":922828,"comment_id":922828,"member_id":53070,"comment":"I am big cross country fan and ran both courses Mt. \nSub 15 at Woodward park state meet? You kidding me maybe three kids TOPS will go under that! This is not the mt Sac. Course 2.93 miles. If any kid from the SS goes under that my hats down to them. Good luck!

\nI didn't mean to imply that it is a comparable course or that the numbers would be similar. Woodward Park is about 16-18 seconds slower on average. That said, I think there will be more than on sub 15's, just not sure how many.","date_added":"Nov 26th 2013, 3:49am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":{"wally_id":"388","email_settings":"8191","email":"scott.joerger@gmail.com","address":"ScottJoerger","gender":"m","member_id":"4588","member_name":"SJ Old Account","avatar_location":"av-4588.jpg","avatar_type":"upload","avatar":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg"},"can_delete":false,"item_id":196522,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-4588.jpg","pb_title":"SJ Old Account","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=4588","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/ScottJoerger.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"388"},"922766":{"pb_id":51013,"pb_type":"members","likes":0,"parent_id":0,"pid":922766,"comment_id":922766,"member_id":51013,"comment":"Sub 15 at Woodward park state meet? \nWith the top team times seeming to primarily come in the past several years for the boys and girls, and the top individual times mostly consisting of performances in the last several years I've come to the conclusion that Einstein's Theory of Relativity must be accurate. Once the kids hit a certain velocity the clocks are clearly slowing down. How else could it be explained?
