DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA STATE MEET Vivian Kelly Goes Out With Third DCSAA Title And Leads Georgetown Visitation Win; St. Albans Boys Dominate By Mary Albl of DyeStat Georgetown Visitation’s Vivian Kelly ended her local D.C. cross country prep career in the only way she knows how to: by winning. Saturday at Kenilworth Park, the senior claimed her third straight District of Columbia State Athletic Association cross country championship, covering the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18 minutes, 1.2 seconds, 26 seconds faster than a year ago. Teammate Abigail Anstett, a sophomore, was right behind for second place in 18:02.0. The team easily won the championship with 36 points with all five runners in the top 12. Runner-up was National Cathedral for Girls with 66 points, and St. John’s was third (72). St. Albans, which won the Virginia XC Showcase two weeks ago, put all five of its scoring runners in the top nine to score 25 points. Second place went to Gonzaga College with 64 points and St. John’s College was third (67 points). Junior Karli Arnold of St. John’s College won the boys race in a time of 15:16.2. His time was a massive improvement from a year ago when he placed fourth in 16:17.1. Team Champions St. Albans boys 25 points, Georgetown Visitation girls 36 points |
