Parker Valby ran a 12-second personal best to win the women's 5,000 meters on Saturday evening at the USATF LA Grand Prix at  Allyson Felix Field.

Valby, racing for just the second time this year after missing nearly all of 2025 due to injury,  ran away from the field to win in a time of 14:39.88.

That makes Valby the eighth-fastest American in history in the event.

Friday's action at the LA Grand Prix was primarily a distance carnival. The meet resumes on Sunday.

Abdihamid Nur ran a season's best time of 13:07.46 to win the men's 5,000 meters, just ahead of Thomas Ratcliffe, who ran a personal best 13:08.50 for second.

Nikki Hiltz edged out Klaudia Kazimierska in a close finish in the women's A section of the 800 meters, 1:59.14 to 1:59.15.

Ethan Strand won the men's 1,500 in 3:33.71.

Yasin Sado ran a personal best time of 8:15.78 to win the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase over Jean-Simon Desgagnes of Canada (8:16.04), Duncan Hamilton (8:16.05) and Daniel Michalski (8:17.77).

Canadian Camryn Rogers suffered a rare defeat in the women's hammer. Brooke Andersen beat a loaded international field with a season's best 79.09m (259-9). DeAnna Price was second, Rachel Richeson took third and Rogers was fourth.

Yann Chassinand from France threw a personal best 82.44m (270-6) to win the men's hammer competition. Ukraine's Mykhaylo Kokhan was just three inches back, also in a new personal best. Rudy Winkler took third with 80.43m (263-10).
