Athletes, Coaches, Parents, and Fans,

We are pleased to bring back DyeStatCAL in time for the 2013 outdoor track season!

As you know in June of 2012, ESPN decided to drop its high school website, including DyeStat and DyeStatCAL. In the fall, John Dye announced he was ceasing operations for DyeStat in November.  In December, Runnerspace announced the acquisition of the DyeStat name and all of the assets connected with it including the DyeStat and DyeStatCAL domain names, the DyeStat archives, and the DyeStat TFX database.

We are working to bring you full coverage of California high school track and cross country, including results, previews, photos, videos, and stats. But how do we fill the shoes of the iconic Rich Gonzalez who has moved on with his own site? For us the answer is that it's impossible… so we are going to take a different path on running the site. While the old DyeStatCAL relied largely on one or two key individuals, the new DyeStatCAL will be a collaborative effort spread among a larger team of people - and we are certainly looking to add more from throughout the state. The new team as of today is as follows:

Scott Joerger - California Editor
Donal Pearce - Video/Photo coverage lead
John Dixon - TFX Input (Rankings / Results)
Albert Caruana - NorCal Forum Captain
Chad Scott -SoCal Forum Captain
Rob Monroe - TFX Input (Rankings / Results), Watchout XC CA rankings
Mike Newman - TFX  Head
Steve Underwood - DyeStat National Editor
Chris Nickinson - Track Talk Forum Head Admin
Ross Krempley - Runnerspace Founder / DyeStat CEO
*More coming soon!

We are excited for the adventure and the coverage the new DyeStatCal will be able to bring you. The new DyeStatCAL.com features the TFX performance ranking system and archives of DyeStat coverage since 1999. The TrackTalk message boards are also back, with similar format and structure old "DyeStatters" know and love.

The site will be a work in progress this season, if you have any comments or things you would like to see on the new DyeStat California, please email DyeStatCalifornia@gmail.com.  See you at the races!

I'm glad you're back!

You mention that you got the archives from dyestatcal. However, I notice that the many of the links from the results archive redirect to a ESPN page and not to the actual results. For example, on this page:
http://parser.dyestat.com/meets.jsp?state=CA&page=33

the link to this event
2010-09-23 Foothill League Meet #1 (CA) 14 elites which is:
http://rise.espn.go.com/track-and-xc/california/2010-xc/Results/September/23-Foothill-Cluster.aspx?pursuit=TrackAndXC

gets redirected to:
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/

Is there a way to access those old results?

thanks,

Mike Sherwood

Mike - Sorry for the delayed response. We got your answer.

So there are a lot of those links that point to an old ESPN Rise site that are wrong, and that meet data is lost. However, the elite results that were parsed into the TFX database is not.

For instance, if you look at last weekends Laguna Hills Invitational, there is a meet page here: http://parser.dyestat.com/meetresults.jsp?meetID=63960#.Ujy0uNJJOjk, and you can click on "View Elite Details and see the elite marks here: http://parser.dyestat.com/search.jsp?meetID=63960

For the old stuff, we don't have the meet pages - they were lost with ESPN. There is a cleanup effort to fix those links you pointed out. However, you can go to the search function and search for the meet or an idividual and find the elite performances. Here's the Foothill League Finals you were inquring about: http://parser.dyestat.com/search.jsp?meetID=38677#.Ujy1kdJJOjn

It's not the best answer, but it's better than nothing. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Happy to see the California thread back. This is what really got me into running back in 08. Hopefully we can bring it back to how it once was.
