DyeStatCAL Weekend Preview - Week 5 (10/5/13)
by Scott Joerger, scottj@dyestat.com
Week 5 brings us to a lull in the California schedule, with no mega-meets happening anywhere in the state. Many teams are taking advantage of a down week and are not racing. There are, however, several quality meets that should be noted. Central Park Invitational (SS) The Central Park Invitational in Orange County features several teams of note. On the boys side, red-hot Madera South will be there, currently CA #4, returning to action after their 4th place showing at Cross Country Classic. Joining them willl be host school Fountain Valley (CA #18). For the girls, #17 Serrano will be the headlining team. Individually, look for Garrett Corcoran of Villa Park to make a statement in the boys race. DyeStatCAL will be on hand providing Full Video Coverage. Brea Invitational (SS) Although the Brea Invitational is a relatively small invitational, it will feature top boys teams Arcadia (CA#1), and Brea Olinda (CA #10). Going hand in hand with that matchup, will be the individual De La Rosa vs. Tamagno Matchup. For girls, the Arcadia girls are making their first appearance following a step-up performance at the Stanford invitatioal. Dos Pueblos Invitational (SS) The Dos Pueblos Invitational will feature the 11th ranked Long Beach Poly boys and the 15th ranked Saugus girls, not to mention host Dos Pueblos who have been known to field some pretty strong teams and indivuals of their own! Staub/Barnes Invitational (SS) Following their 7th place showing at Cross Country Classic, the host Crescenta Valley team is likely to be fielding the toughest boys team at the Staub/Barnes Invitational. On the girls side the plot gets a little thicker, as a dominant Trabuco Hills team (CA#3) will be challenged by #16 Moorpark and #22 Canyon (Canyon Country). This one could cause some changes to the pecking order.
Next week will be a different story as we head into Clovis week, where the majority of the Statewide Top 25 teams are scheduled to compete. As usual, below is a list of where the top teams are schedule to run by meet and by rank. See you at the races.
